Radial Diffuser Rerates and Retrofits
Description
Since the inception of the submerged motor cryogenic pump, axial diffusers have been the dominant design choice. As the industry grew and matured, the demands on pumping requirements increased. Pumps were required to operate over a much greater operating flow range. Over the years, it became apparent that the axial diffuser could not operate efficiently over a wide flow range. At low flow rates, the diffuser's performance breaks down, resulting in a flat performance curve, rough running and diminished interstage busing life. These problems are eliminated using Carter's new radial diffuser design.
